The Alberta Circus Arts Festival is proud to present an evening of exceptional aerial and acrobatic performers from across Canada. From Nova Scotia to British Columbia, you will be delighted, amazed and awed by the talent converging in Edmonton for one night only! This incredible evening will be hosted by the incomparable John Ullyatt, co-founder of Firefly Theatre and Circus.

Twist of Fate explores the universal experience of overcoming life’s obstacles presented in a profoundly personal way. It is the true story of Lookup Theatre’s Artistic Director, Angola Murdoch. This performance depicts her diagnosis, surgery, and recovery from scoliosis and how she lives now with a 12-inch metal spine and has been an international professional circus artist for the last 20 years. Twist of Fate fuses contemporary circus, dance, projection mapping, music, and theatre, all contributing something vital and unique.

Barka is a show where circus arts, dance and music blend, by the creators of the Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra. In an extraordinary festive chaos, BARKA is a celebration of life and a call to hope and responsible freedom. Afro-Colombian percussion, Balkan melodies, dance and circus merrily intertwine in a show filled with a delirious energy and richness of sound, vision and senses. After the show, join the cast and crew for a Danza Party in celebration of Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day!
Children of all ages are welcome to dance along the cast at the 2 PM Matinee.

Cirque in the Park

Come one, come all! Cirque in the Park is a free family-friendly event, showcasing local and guest circus performers and schools. The event runs from 12:00 – 3:00pm, and includes interactive circus activities for kids, and an exciting aerial and acrobatic show for all. Cirque in the Park is programmed by Firefly Theatre and Circus as part of the Alberta Circus Arts Festival. Walk from our festival headquarters at La Cité Francophone to the Mill Creek Ravine Park, for an exciting outdoor celebration of circus!

Frostbite Circus | Winnipeg
Sunday, June 25, 4:00-5:00 pm + 30 min talk back with the creative team
Deep Dish, Samantha Halas’s one-woman theatrical contortion show, deftly balances a poignant personal journey with a rockin’ retro vibe and will delight audiences of all ages. Helen, Samantha’s character, is keen to please her customers but bumbles orders, sets the table in handstands and juggles water as she comes to realize who she really is. Halas generously shares her struggles with class and expectations, while performing high-quality contortion and foot juggling – with pizzas! Deep Dish is charmingly funny and deeply touching.
